Jeju City has announced that documents will be processed with the new street-name system starting Oct. 31.
This follows the central government’s July 29 announcement of the address system change.
Nine-hundred and three official documents, including identification cards, resident registrations and certification of seal impressions, will be processed with the new-street addresses as of Oct. 31.
Those who previously had identification cards issued under the old address system can visit their local government offices to add their new address to the back of the card.
However, Koreans living overseas and the deceased will remain listed using the old system.
If registered the street address and the address on the building are different, it needs to be reported to a local government office.
Building registration documents, family relationship status and cooperate registration will gradually adopt the new street-name address system to be in full effect this December.
From Oct. 28 at 6:30 p.m. to Oct. 30 at 12 a.m., the Web site Minwon24 (minwon.go.kr) will be closed for scheduled maintenance to implement the new address system.
